Back where we belong!
I think we can all agree that the 2009/2010 season was the best all of us could have hoped for. We showed our support for the players through the good and the bad and now we’re back where we truly belong. We all know a great season in the Championship does not necessarily guarantee a repeat performance in the Premiership, although Newcastle fans have every right to be delighted with what finally appears to be some solidarity in our squad.
So the “Countdown Clock” has well and truly begun for the opening fixture of the 2010/2011 campaign, and I suspect that the Transfer market for us will be a quiet time as we look to stabilise the finances. However, I would like to see us sign another striker and defender before the window shuts. I liked the look of James Perch last year and I think he handled Jonas very well so I hope that he can bring that kind of performance to the Premier League.
No one beats Robbie Savage at Twister!!
I really do feel that the forthcoming campaign will be a great test for our young squad players and hope that Chris Houghton looks at what David Moyes has done at Everton with the youth system (hopefully we’ll benefit from their shocking admin team too with Dan Gosling), and tries to create something similar. We have heard all about Bradden Inman and Haris Vuckic but have seldom seen what they can actually do...
With that being said I will be looking for big performances from the likes of Kevin Nolan, Steven Taylor, and Jonas Gutierrez as they are Premier League standard players and will be looking closely at the performances of Jose Enrique and Andy Carroll. As long as we keep it simple (with that extra touch of Geordie flair) I think we’ll have something to celebrate at the end of the season.
So what can we look forward to next season? Well bragging rights would be nice and we can “Kick Off” at the end of October with that...From a fans point of view I hope to see the team performing to the best of its ability. Oh and if we could try and win a trophy that would be great!
Keep the Faith.
