Liverpool vs. Arsenal
Firstly I would like to start off by wishing Arsenal good luck for the season ahead, I’m sure it
will be another exciting season with plenty of “ifs and buts”.
Pre-season I thought was very successful with five wins and a draw and the emirates cup staying
with us for another year. However, I still think there were plenty of signs that a new keeper is
desperately required. A win is a win but 6 – 5 against an average polish team in Legia Warsaw
isn’t really too encouraging. The thing I don’t understand is that all arsenal fans know that we
desperately need a new centre half (for cover) and a decent goalkeeper. So why can’t Wenger see
that, or if he can, why doesn’t he act on it now, and not just before the transfer window closes
when it could have already cost us the chance to challenge for the title?! I rate Wenger very
highly and admire everything he has done for Arsenal but struggle to understand this one.
"There there Arsene, it's ok, I understand you"
Our new signing koscielny has been very impressive thus far and looks like he could be a good
addition to the squad but the loss of Gallas, Senderos, Silvestre and Campbell who all play in
this position may cost us mid-season when the injuries start to pile up. Four out and one in
doesn't add up to me...
On Sunday I thought Koscielny was very lucky to avoid serious injury from Joe Cole’s late
challenge (anyone who thinks that wasn’t a red card is clearly deluded) and could have left us
desperately searching for a replacement after just one game. Liverpool then strengthened our
case for needing a new keeper as N'gog beat Almunia at his near post, leaving us in desperate
need of an equaliser against a Scouse side with the crowd fully behind them.
As Paul Merson said on Sunday “How many teams have won the league without a great goalkeeper……not
many, and Almunia is a good goal keeper, but not a great goal keeper”. Chelsea, who much to my
displeasure won the title last year, did so with a “great goalkeeper”. Arsenals most successful
seasons were with David Seaman and Jens Lehmann in goal, two fine keepers. Take note Arsene.
listen to what Merson says Arsene, he know his stuff.

All in all though a point at anfield is never a bad result, I just hope that we can look back at
this as a point gained and not two dropped. The question I keep asking myself however is "how
many points could we gain by having a Shay Given in our side?"
Come on you Gooners!!!!!
