Banter...

We have less than a week before the new season starts and I can't help but worry about the monotonous banter that comes with it.

Even though we were crowned domestic league and cup champions last time round I am sure we’ll continue to get a barrage of ‘stick’ and banter all the way till the last game of the season. It comes with the territory I suppose.

I am fortunate enough to have the time and money to watch Chelsea every week and try and get a few away games under my belt each season too (let’s be honest, if you know anything about being at a live game you will agree away games are the don). I’d love to go to all the games, but I don’t get paid £120,000 a week... The question / taunt which always makes me laugh most is(and it used to make my blood boil) “How long have you supported Chelsea then?”

All the big boys at the prettier end of the table of course all have glory hunters…. But just because we inherited a few bucks seven years back, doesn’t mean I have just jumped on the band wagon! Just wanted to clear that up...

this man isn't necessarily a glory hunter.  Be he is funny

Looking forward to this season, I expect a few more teams to be in the mix for the top four places. Spurs and City are due to be gatecrashing the original top 4 party and Everton should be tough opponents for most teams. Villa would also have been taken seriously but I worry about the knock on effects O’Neill’s resignation will have on their chances.

Chelsea didn’t have the greatest of pre-seasons but my view is lets get all them losses out the way now and concentrate on the games that matter, starting with the mighty West Brom tomorrow evening. Seeing Essien back is great for the team and with Drogba and Cech both making starts I envisage 3 points tomorrow to get the ball rolling. The general spine of our side remains the same as last season with the only addition being Benayoun so lets carry on where we finished last season…. with an 8-0.

Just a quick tribute to Riccy Carvalho - The Diversity street dancer/footballer left us this week for pastures new at Real Madrid. The guy was with us for six glorious, successful years and was a great servant to the club. From all of us down in SW6, 'Obrigado Ricardo Alberto Silveira de Carvalho.'

Riccy Carvalho - lost his hair faster than Elton John on a windy day...
